Itinerary
Upon arrive in Hanoi, meet your guide and transfer to your hotel for check in and briefing. If time permits we will take a short orientation visit of Hanoi. In the evening enjoy welcome cocktails at your hotel and dinner at one of Hanoi's superb Vietnamese restaurant. Overnight in Hanoi.
We explore Hanoi's charming French colonial boulevards, the ancient Temple of Literature, the amazing life of Ho Chi Minh visiting his mausoleum, the house on stilts and the museum. In the afternoon we explore Hanoi by cyclo, driving through the lively Old Quarter, a series of 36 ancient streets where peddlers trade their wares as they have done for centuries. Tour Hanoi's old house in Ma May street and then walking tour through Hang Be market and enjoy famed water puppet theatre.
Then we journey east - Vietnam's greatest natural wonder, Halong Bay. We spent the afternoon cruising the bay's 3000 magnificent limestone islets made famous in the film Indochine and return Hanoi. Overnight in Hanoi.
Flying Danang on Vietnam's central coast, we visit the city's fascinating Cham Museum before traveling the short distance south Beach. Visit the Marble Mountain. It's then on to the quaint merchant town of Hoi An, where we walk cobblestone lanes visiting markets, historic houses and temples. Overnight in Hoian.
This morning we take the coastal drive north crossing Hai Van Pass to Hue, Vietnam's former imperial capital. In Hue, travel by dragon boat along the serene Perfume River to revered Thien Mu Pagoda. See the impressive tomb of former Emperor Tu Duc and the ruins of the former royal residence, the Hue Citadel. Overnight in Hue.
Arrive Saigon after a short flight. We walk Saigon's wide and historic boulevards, visiting famous landmarks such as the site of Hotel de Ville, Continental Hotel, Notre Dame de Saigon, Presidential Palace and lively town. Overnight in Saigon.
We travel to Tay Ninh to witness the bizarre Cao Dai Religion, and explore the amazing Communist guerilla tunnel system at Cu Chi. Overnight in Saigon.
We travel deep into Mekong Delta, visiting Can Tho, the biggest city on Mekong, exploring the intricate waterways by sampan, local farm houses and fruit orchards. Overnight in can Tho.
